This tea set is made by Shuhe, a studio under the direction of Ye Ming, a Senior Master of Arts and Crafts of Zhejiang Province.
This is the classic configuration for Kung Fu tea — one gaiwan, three small cups. The gaiwan — lid for heaven, bowl for humanity, tray for earth — is the heart of the brewing. Its form is dignified, its pour smooth, its heat retention excellent. The three handshake cups are small and rounded, with a gently closed rim. At 50ml, they are the classic size for Kung Fu tea — small enough to hold the aroma, small enough to finish in a single sip, so every cup is as warm and fragrant as the first.
The glaze is Fenqing (Powder Blue) — a classic Longquan glaze, soft and luminous, its tone ranging from a gentle grey-blue to a clear dawn-sky blue. It has no crackle — just pure, quiet clarity. The surface is smooth as jade, warm to the touch. Pour tea, and the glaze deepens, the liquor and the glaze becoming one.
Each piece is unique. Hand-thrown, one at a time. The same form, the same glaze — yet each emerges with its own subtle character. This is the signature of the maker’s hand.
