Title
The Little Princess
Carved by Mr Li Yongqiang, inheritor of intangible cultural heritage. A poetic imagining across cultures — bringing a fairy tale into the real world, through the language of traditional wood carving.
Material
Selected golden-nanmu burl from ancient wood — a thousand years in the making, buried in earth and water, its grain transformed by time into patterns like golden silk. Warm to the touch, luminous to the eye — among the rarest of Eastern woods.
Inspiration
Inspired by the princesses of European fairy tales. Li Yongqiang carves a Western story with Eastern tools: a princess caught in movement, her dress alive with the wood’s own golden grain, her face between a smile and a dream — as if she might step out of the wood and begin her tale. A gentle meeting of East and West, and a beautiful crossing of cultural boundaries through heritage craft.
Craft & Use
Hand-carved using heritage techniques — every fold of her dress, every strand of her hair, rendered by hand. The natural grain of the golden-nanmu becomes the flow of her clothes, alive with light.
Use as a decorative piece for your desk, shelf, or window — a small light in daily life.
Or hold it in your hand — the wood is warm, smooth, good for quiet moments.
